Virgil Crest 100 (aka Iroquois 100 Miler)
Hey y'all. I'm heading to NY to support a new 100 mile race—Iroquois 100 & 50 miler (will have a name change to Virgil Crest Ultras in 2010). It's still pretty small, but wanted to try to get some eyes on the race. It's in it's 2nd year put on by Ian Golden, owner of Finger Lakes Running Company, in Ithaca, NY (he used to live in Bend for a few years). The race has a web cast page (consisting of text/updates based on checkpoints during the race). Race starts at 6am on Saturday (Eastern Time). To follow the race progress, go to:

"I'm gonna try to get a gap."
And that's just what he did. Huge congrats to Hal for another smoking victory at Western States this past weekend. He ran away from some of the best 100-mile competition ever assembled and did so with class and style.
Big congrats to Krissy for a stellar 2nd place performance (13th overall). She battled hard, beat many of the sport's best runners, and smiled (almost) the whole way.
Props to Jasper for a gritty 4th place. Strong!
AJW battling knarled feet and sprinted hard to hold onto the last male qualifying spot. Top 10 streak is alive and well.
Wolfe-man (27th) did the work and finished strong, as did Godale (40th).
Great to see so many Patagonia jerseys ripping it up out there. Well done!

Patagonia Tour
As part of my road trip in Cali for Shadow of the Giants 50k a couple weeks ago, I dropped by the Patagonia headquarters. George gave me a great tour of the campus.
Also, it was really cool to check out the Tin Shed (pic below) where it all started many years ago. However, and perhaps most importantly, my tour reinforced why I love being a member of the Patagonia Ultrarunning Team. Everywhere on campus was evidence of the ecological ethos that you read about so much in Patagonia’s publications. Seeing this company ‘practice what they preach’ and not just another corporate green wash was really inspiring to me, on so many levels.
So, thanks to everyone for your involvement with the team! We’re doing much more than just running trails!
