nine trails

in the land of many seasons, diversity in the weather is as much a part of the charm of playing outdoors as the destinations at our fingertips. i think most runners have a few "go to" pieces in the quiver that they rely on when the forecast calls for 8 to 80. i have been fortunate in the last few weeks to run in the humid mountains of the southeast, the dry and beautiful sierra nevada mountains and the cold and snowy ranges of the cascades. this time alone has given me a chance to try some new gear and while the old dragonfly will always hold a special place in my heart, my new nine trails jacket is really starting to stand out. one run had me starting at dawn on a 28 degree morning where i knew the temps would be getting into the high 50's for the day. it kept me warm for the first couple of hours while the sun rose and then rolled tightly and fit neatly into one of the rear pockets of my ultra shorts when it's protection was no longer needed. just days later this same jacket was pulled out of a pack and placed around a wet runner who found himself at the mercy of a coastal storm blowing into the cascades cutting the daylight in half and dropping the wind chill below 20 degrees.

we've bonded in the short time we have been together. mud, rain, snow, sunlight. spring in oregon. be prepared for anything. here's hoping all your "go to" gear is as good to you as nine trails has been to me.

Cool DQ'd

I'm super bummed, but just found out I (and another runner) cut the course by about 5-6 minutes and never knew it...for the full report, check out http://gobroncobilly.blogspot.com/

I'm bummed and in shock to say the least...my first DQ. Rod, you still have the Central Oregon Cool record, buddy.

Super Cool at Hwy 49

I'd like to give a huge thanks to Julie for her help at Hwy 49 aid station. She was ON IT when I came through in a tight pack (trying to stay on Torrence's heals for the last climb). I didn't even have to break stride to hand her my empty gel flasks and bottle. Nice work J!

Great to see everyone and kick it at Georgetown Hotel on Saturday night. We had quite a crew. AJW was gettin' rowdy and workin' the crowd beltin' out some Springsteen. Nice.

Congratulations Team Patagonia

Scott, Hal, Jeff and Andy, awesome running at Way Too Cool! It was great to see everyone looking solid and strong both times at my Highway 49 aid station. Keep up the great work!

The jersey's looked sharp. Thanks George and Rod.

See you on the trails.
